Mona’s Locals only VIP-ish day of art and overly expensive wine that we need to get rid of itinerary
Your Tickets
We have emailed your ticket to you as a pdf. Don’t confuse it with your order confirmation—that won’t get you in the door. Having trouble finding your ticket? Search your inbox for orders@mona.net.au.
Download the O
The O is our app: a one-stop guide to Mona. You’ll need it to survive your journey. Please bring your headphones to access additional audio content, and charge your phone before you get here.
Getting Here
Your ferry transport (from Brooke Street Pier) is locked in at your requested time—prepare your body for an onslaught of canapes, plush seating, plonk of your choosing and general hobnobbery. Don’t miss the boat.
Eat + Drink
It is worth thinking about sustenance for your day of luxury—there’ll be a fair bit of booze included, but you’ll have to feed yourself. Luckily, there are plenty of chow options on site:
- Lean in on the ‘treat yo’self’ energy with a fine-dine at Faro or the Source (you can book at the front desk or try your luck at the door)
- Hit Dubsy’s and annihilate a vego burger or some quick diner fare on the lawn
- Snack or slurp something more substantial at the Moorilla Wine Bar
- We’re now doing pizzas in the Void Bar, serving your subterranean hunger needs
Event Horizon
You've got free entry to James Turrell's Event Horizon. Head to Faro and speak to the concierge to book into Event Horizon to gain access—show them your ticket and they’ll sort you out.
Head here before your wine tasting. You won't have time afterwards and it'd make you feel a little queasy anyway.
3PM: Fancy wine time
This is the main event, so don’t be late. Make sure to be at the Source Restaurant by 2.45pm sharp, for a 3pm start. If you don’t know where the Source is, ask a member of staff.
4PM
The wine tasting will wind up just in time for you to head down into the museum to catch Dean Stevenson’s daily 4PM performance, if you’re that way inclined. Being a local will get you a free glass of something from the Void Bar too—just show them your ticket.
If you’re not feeling music-y, you can jump on the 4pm ferry back to Hobart to beat the rush (subject to capacity, see staff at least 20 mins prior to departure).
5PM
This isn’t a performance or an event—just a reminder that 5pm is when the last ferry goes back to Hobart, with or without you. Be a shame to miss out on the Posh Pit, wouldn’t it.
Discounted Wine
Lastly, don’t forget that your Locals-only VIP ticket gets you 10% off any purchases made in the Moorilla Cellar Door (straight ahead as you leave the Source) on the day. It’s a great chance to restock the cellar, and you don’t even have to carry it: we’ll ship it to your house for free.
